See You At The Nehemiah Action

Rabbi Bob Slosberg, co-President of CLOUT

Good evening. I’m Rabbi Bob Slosberg, co-President of CLOUT with Reverend Johnson and co-chair of the Community Safety and Equity Committee with Reverend Johnson.

Let me begin with a simple truth:

We at CLOUT believe that People Power is not just an empty slogan. It is the essence of who we are. People Power is the heartbeat of justice.

People Power is what happens when ordinary people, like you and me, refuse to wait for permission to care, to act, or to lead.

People Power is the result of neighbors discovering that together their collective voices, their collective presence, have more weight than any single government authority.

CLOUT’s brand of People Power is moral courage rooted in faith. It rises up from people who refuse to accept injustice as normal.

For we at CLOUT, Power does not trickle down from the top. It rises up from ordinary people, like you and me. And when people unite with purpose, history doesn’t just tilt toward justice — it moves toward justice because we push it. We know this is true because we have seen it many times before.

During the Civil Rights Movement, every day people changed the direction of this nation under the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr..

They were not powerful on their own.
But collectively they were unstoppable.

Together they marched.
Together they boycotted.
Together they organized.

And because people showed up in numbers —undeniably large numbers — systems were changed.

That is CLOUT’s blueprint. That is what People Power looks like.

That is why CLOUT exists.

Tonight, I want to remind you — I want to challenge you…

To be much more than just participants.
I challenge you to be multipliers.

Your role is not just to attend the Nehemiah Action on Monday, April 20th. Your role is to bring people with you; and to inspire and to motivate the people you bring to also bring people. Why?

Because People Power is not measured by good intentions. It is measured by who shows up in the room.

The Nehemiah Action is our moment of public power.
Our moment to stand together.
Our moment to act for the good of our city.

This year, we are confronting homelessness because dignity matters.
Because who we protect and who we ignore — defines who we are.

The Nehemiah Action is about the soul of Louisville.

And whether real change happens depends on one thing:

How many people we bring.

So here is my call out to every Network Leader:

Do not just come.

Bring your people.

And do not just bring your people —
help them, motivate them, to bring others.

Remember large numbers is how People Power becomes real power.

If every person you lead brings just one more, just three more people…the room changes.
The energy changes.
The outcome changes. Isn’t that right CLOUT?

Numbers at the Nehemiah Action is power.
Numbers create accountability.

Numbers create change. And it all rests on our shoulders.

It means personally reaching out — not just announcements, not just emails…but conversations.

Ask of your Network Members: What do you need to be there?

It means inviting beyond your circle — family, friends, coworkers, neighbors; people who care but haven’t been asked yet.

And it means removing every barrier.
Rides. Childcare. Schedules. Uncertainty.
If something stands in the way, we at CLOUT can solve it if we work together.

Remember this:

A city is not its buildings.
A city is not its streets. A city is not its tourist sites
A city is-- its people.

And change begins the moment people decide they belong to one another.

One voice can be ignored.
Many voices create pressure.
A thousand voices create transformation.

That is what we are building.
That is the power we carry together.

So Network Leaders — this is your moment.

Inspire your people.
Mobilize your people.
Bring your people.

And help them bring others.

Because when we fill Louisville Memorial Auditorium on April 20th at 6:30, we don’t just attend an event —
we demonstrate the power of an organized community, the People Power of CLOUT.

Let’s show our government leaders what People Power looks like.

So let me ask you CLOUT--

Will you come?

YES!

Will you bring your people?

YES!

Will your people bring others?

YES!

Then say it so the whole city can hear:

SEE YOU AT THE NEHEMIAH ACTION!
(SEE YOU AT THE NEHEMIAH ACTION!)
